Working in a research laboratory is one of the best ways to discover whether a career in science and research is right for you.

At SPPIN, students can explore a wide range of research topics, from organelle biology and neuronal transport to optical imaging, systems neuroscience, neurological and psychiatric disorders, and emerging therapeutic approaches.

The laboratory offers Master’s-level internship opportunities across several research groups. Each project is supervised by a principal investigator and may lead to a PhD.

Study of the effects of repetitive trans-spinal magnetic stimulation on functional and tissue recovery

6 months Master 2 Team 3

This study investigates whether repetitive trans-spinal magnetic stimulation (rTSMS) can reduce inflammation, promote remyelination, and improve functional recovery in a mouse model of transverse myelitis, an inflammatory demyelinating spinal cord disease.

Identification and study of partners of C9orf72-SMCR8-WDR41 complex associated with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis

6 months Master 2 Team 4

This project investigates the molecular partners of the C9orf72-SMCR8-WDR41 complex linked to ALS, using proximity biotinylation and proteomics to uncover its functions during amino acid starvation.

Skills needed : cell culture, confocal microscopy, co-immunoprecipitation, proteomics data analysis

Regulation of affective states by bimodal GABAergic transmission in the mouse Medial Habenula

6 months Master 2 Team 6

This project explores how bimodal GABAergic signaling in the medial habenula regulates affective states, combining ex vivo electrophysiology and in vivo optogenetics in mice.

Skills needed : patch clamp electrophysiology, optogenetics, fiber photometry, behavioral testing

Development of New Molecular Strategies for the Treatment of Rett Syndrome in mutant mice

6 months Master 2 Team 7

This study explores new therapeutic strategies for Rett syndrome, combining MeCP2 gene therapy with focused ultrasound and importin pathway manipulation to improve treatment efficacy in mutant mice.

Skills needed : molecular biology, mouse behavioral profiling, immunofluorescence, RNA-seq

Undergraduate interships
